The Daily Classifieds Group is a legally registered business in the UK. We do take all complaints seriously. and we WILL take legal action against any person or persons making false Spam complaints against our business. But my real Disappointment is with my Ex Hosts " Host4Profit.com ". 3 Years I have been with them. I've had eMails from them thanking me for my help and support when they needed it from me, and in general I have had very little problems in that time. David has always thanked me when there has been a minor problem, and I thought we had a really good working relationship. Now I realise that it was Host4Profits Data Centre that told Host4profit to dump me, and I realise they had to comply. My disappointment is not that they dumped me, but I am very very disappointed that when I eMailed them asking for their support ( remember I have been a good customer for 3 years ) and requesting they write to their Data Centre, asking for a review. They haven't even bothered to reply to me. I've emailed them twice more since then. Not a dickey bird. I've eMailed them asking for a pro rata refund of the money I had paid them only 3 days before hand. Nothing It would seem that Host4Profit has decided it wants nothing to do with the Daily Classifieds Group any more. You would have thought after 3 years of having a good relationship they would have known us better. Today over a week after I first eMailed them David at host4Profit sent me the following eMail ====================== Hello, ========================== A reply to this was sent on the 15th December

what about my refund? you seem to be forgetting that., or is it your

As you can see Host4Profit were warned about this article and were given the right to respond to it. To Date 8 days later I have received nothing further from them. I can only assume it is their intention to keep all the money and not issue a refund for the unused portion of my hosting. Remember they threw me off just days after receiving Full Payment. So after 2 1/2 years of of me being loyal to them. This is the extent of their loyalty to one of their customers. Our suggestion if you host with Host4Profit watch out. Your loyalty to them means nothing And remember all this has come out of a false accusation of Spamming by "Xaun Loc" <xaunloc@totalise.co.uk>. Last update. Host4Profit have failed to reply to my emails including those regarding the refund due to me. Action will now be taken against them. The majority of you have been subscribers of the Daily Classifieds eZine for a number of years. A lot of you have your own eZines. We have always followed the Spam debate and followed accepted guidelines. We even belong to and follow the guidelines of i-Cop. Yesterday the EU Spam laws came into effect. WE exceed these guidelines. In January it is expected that the FTC Spam laws will come in to effect. WE exceed these. How is it that some little jerk can cause a legitimate UK registered business who has always acted in good faith, and was announcing the launch of 2 Charitable sites so much trouble. Internet Tip of the Week by Bob Osgoodby A Sows Ear We've all heard the saying "You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear", but yet almost everyday, people are trying - figuratively speaking of course - to do just that. There are so many opportunities being presented on the web, it is difficult to distinguish between the two. Some are the proverbial "silk purse", and others are the "sows ear". How do you tell the difference? You have to be very careful on the Internet. There are many legitimate deals, but there are many unethical people also. Don't be misled by anything that guarantees riches for very little work. If you have a good product and market it well, you can make an excellent income and maybe even become wealthy. When you first get interested in an opportunity however, before you go "gung-ho", step back a bit and take a hard look at it. There are danger signs that some have, and if you see them, it is possible you should simply walk on by. Probably the number one danger sign is the promise of huge wealth in a short period of time with no effort on your part. Commonly called "illegal pyramids" or possibly a "ponzi," many are a money making system that create income from getting people involved in the business, and not selling a real product or service. Or they may sell an inferior product at an inflated price with the majority of the purchase price being distributed as commissions. Like chain letters, they rely on a constant infusion of funds by new entrants to pay the old. But, like musical chairs, when the music stops, someone can't sit down. Another serious danger sign is the lack of contact information. If all you have is a form to fill out on a web site, and no contact methods, this should definitely be avoided. A legitimate company will give a physical address, a phone number, and have an email address to which you can write. Never send cash or a money order, as you have little if any recourse if they don't deliver. Don't think that writing a check is safe either, as they always cash or deposit the check before providing you anything. This is the prudent thing for any vendor to do, as it prevents cheats from taking advantage of them. Your absolute best bet is to pay for online purchases with a credit card. If the company does not deliver, you can dispute the payment and have the charge reversed. If a company does not accept credit cards, but did in the past, it is almost always an indication that victims are beginning to charge back their program membership, and "product" purchases on their credit cards. This is a major danger sign as very likely they have lost their vendor status with the credit card companies, due to the volume of their charge backs. If the seller won't, or like a private individual, can't accept credit cards, consider using an escrow service. Escrow services are another good payment option. For a small fee, an escrow service holds the buyer's payment and forwards it to the seller upon the buyer's receipt and approval of the item within an agreed upon inspection period. For buyers, escrow services can help ensure that they get what they pay for. Sellers may find escrow services less expensive than participating in the credit card payment system, especially if the buyer pays the fee, and they avoid the problems of bad checks or stolen credit cards. If you use one, ensure that the service is licensed and bonded, and how you can confirm that with the appropriate agency. If you have been defrauded, contact the National Fraud Information Center at 1-800-876-7060 - http://www.fraud.org/ Online Auctions topped the complaint list of the frauds reported in 2001 with 63% of all frauds reported coming from that quarter with an average loss of $487 per person. Web sites are still the most common way that consumers are solicited for fraudulent Internet offers, but the statistics reveal an increase in the number of initial contacts made by con artists using email. | The Joy of a Small Opt-In List by Cathy Bryant © 2003 The year 2003 is coming to a close. The new year will bring with it many changes for those of us who do business on the internet. Because 2003 has seen a tremendous change in the way we market, newsletter publishing has taken on new and often frustrating challenges. With the advent of all the new regulations regarding online publishing, I became quite disillusioned. At one point I even made the decision to give up my website and newsletter entirely and focus my energies elsewhere. I really had intended to close up shop. Fortunately, the love that I have for online marketing won out (it always does). But in order to protect myself in the new era of government regulation of permission-based email marketing, I decided on a subscription method that no doubt was going to drastically reduce the number of subscribers to my newsletter. And it did - no doubt about it. My subscription rate is now approximately 1/10th of what it was when I provided a simple form on every page of my website. But what I've discovered is this - those who do choose to subscribe are those individuals who are sincerely interested in developing a home-based income. And their response to my publication has been nothing short of amazing. My current list is small - much smaller than what I've had in the past. But not surprisingly, these subscribers have proven to be what I would call "hard core" home business enthusiasts. I've had that confirmed not only through the correspondence I've had with them, but even with phone calls that I've received. So in effect I have what could best be described as an intimate list made up of individuals who have either already ventured into a business of their own, or who have shown that they are much more than the proverbial "tire kicker." These are people who recognize that nothing comes without hard work, and they are willing to invest the time, energy, and capital that it takes to develop home-based income streams. Because the list is small - and no doubt will continue to be - I avoid the naysayers and negative thinkers that often permeate the larger lists. These are individuals who seem to take great delight in sending hateful, nasty emails to those who are in the best position to help them. I know I'm not alone among my colleagues by being on the receiving end of some of these tirades. I refuse to be a pawn in the head games that some of these people want to play; yet, it can still be disheartening at times. And the worst part is that it takes away from my ability to help those individuals who are sincere in their quest for success. The bottom line is this - if you're a publisher and feel that you need to go for quantity when building your own opt-in list, I suggest that you consider the quality of your list instead. Small lists do not necessarily translate into small profits. By focusing your efforts on only those who are anxious to succeed and have shown that they trust your advice and recommendations, you eliminate the frustration that comes with answering countless emails and inquiries from the merely curious.
